In January SxSE Workshops went to Music City for a day of phototalks, a day of photowalks, and a day of photo reviews – it was a full three days! But, what came out of it was great, and we’d like to share a bit of the photowalk with you.

Beate Sass

Beate is an Atlanta-based photographer. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Music from the University of Southern California in 1983 and a Certificate in Physical Therapy from the University of California, San Francisco in 1989. Beate discovered photography in her mid-forties and became passionate about visual storytelling. As a photographer she has found it most rewarding to photograph people in their familiar environments and to record their stories. Although she is mostly a self-taught photographer, she has participated in several workshops led by eminent photographers whose work she admires. Beate works part-time as a physical therapist while pursuing her photographic interests.

Myrtie Cope

I began taking photography seriously when I put everything I owned in storage and moved to Montana for a five-month course in photography – an experience of a lifetime. My images have evolved from flower shots in the backyard to award-winning landscapes and nature images, architecture photos of both old and new structures, and commercial images for various companies.
