Augra Atlanta, by Deanne Andrus ©

As I get out of bed this morning I try not to feel the sting as I glance at my calendar and realize that I will be alone again this year.

It is not unusual for me to be by myself.  I do it all the time, but today is different.  It’s a day when I don’t like to be alone. It’s a day when no one should be alone. Today is my birthday.

After all these years you would think I would be used to it, but somehow the hurt of being alone on my birthday never goes away.

Since 1992 my husband and I have not been in the same city for more than three weeks in a row. These images are a collaboration between my husband and me. It is an attempt to describe what our relationship looks like.
